Akohekohe - Fringillidae Palmeria dolei

Presently the 'Akohekohe exists only at high elevations on the Island of Maui. It is one of the larger Hawaiian honeycreepers, and aggressively defends the nectar of its favorite lehua blossoms. It is an endangered species.
