Apapane (feather) - Fringillidae Hematione sanguinea

An original painted with no date, but likely in the 2010-2011 timeframe, as the image is used on the title page of Marian's Living Endemic Birds of Hawaii (LEBH) series.

From the Hawaii State website: Apapane are "found on all main islands, primarily in native forests. Common on Hawai`i, Maui, and Kaua`i, uncommon on O`ahu, rare on Lana`i."
