Introduction

Joan and I went on a 12-day birding tour to Costa Rica with Caligo Ventures. The itinerary covered five climate areas, including shore, dry forest, rain forest, mountain, and savannah.

We had a great time and are very pleased with the photographs we took. Our group saw about 340 species, I saw 214 species (I am new to Costa Rican birds and need to know I could likely identify the bird again on my own). There are (over the course of a year) over 840 species of birds in Costa Rica, a country the size of West Virginia.

This section includes only bird photographs. To see some of our other photos taken during the trip click here.
